General Membership

Any person wishing to become a General Member of SPAA must be practising in the SMSF industry. Individuals who have an undergraduate or equivalent are eligible to apply for membership.

If you provide advice under a financial services licensing arrangement you must be RG146 compliant. This requires you to complete an ASIC approved Tier 1 course on superannuation.  If the professional advice you give does not require you to be RG146 compliant this stipulation is waived.

For example:
1. An accountant who is exempted from the FSRA requirements and only provides advice about the set-up and administration of SMSFs; and

2. A lawyer who is exempted from the FSRA Licence requirements.

General Membership enables unlimited access to the SPAA website, chapter participation and educational opportunities, along with standard member benefits including preferential rates for SPAA events.

Membership is available to individuals only, corporate or discounted company memberships are not available.

This category does not allow members voting or branding rights.

SPAA encourages all General Members to make an application to achieve the SMSF Specialist Advisor™ designation within the first 18 months of joining SPAA, however those who wish to maintain their association through General Membership are also welcome.

    Sponsor Membership

All sponsors have an individual identified as their contact with SPAA. This individual is required to hold a General Membership. Sponsors are not able to have a corporate membership as the SPAA Constitution allows only individual membership.

Please refer to the General Membership information.

We welcome enquiries from organisations who may be interested in sponsorship opportunities with the SMSF Professionals' Association of Australia.
